Venezuela: Controversial TV series banned

The premiere episode of US-Colombian TV series ‘El Comandante’, which tells the story of late Venezuelan president Hugo Chávez, was banned in Venezuela.

The premiere episode of US-Colombian TV series ‘El Comandante’ (The Commander), which tells the story of late Venezuelan president Hugo Chávez, was banned in Venezuela on 30 January 2017. The series aired on a Colombian TV channel which is also available in Venezuela; however, the channel was unavailable in the country for the duration of the pilot episode. The Telecommunications National Commission also asked citizens to report any channel that broadcast the series, reported The Washington Post.
