8 June 2021: The Tunceli 2nd Heavy Penal Court acquitted musician Yılmaz Çelik of charges of “membership of terrorist organisation” and “doing terrorism propaganda”, reported  Susma24.

Çelik was released on 26 March 2021 after being arrested by the police on 8 December 2019 after his concert in the Directorate of Culture Conference Hall.

Freemuse’s report on The State of Artistic Freedom 2021 highlights that a vague framework of anti-terror law, together with criminalised insults against the president, were behind more than half of the documented violations of artistic freedom in Turkey in 2020. There are seven artists know to be imprisoned in Turkey in 2020.
