USA: ‘Art Interrupted’ recreates censored modernist exhibition

An exhibition at the Georgia Museum of Art in Athens, USA, recreates a highly controversial traveling show of modernist American art that was nixed by the government in 1947 following a widespread national protest.

Titled ‘Art Interrupted: Advancing American Art and the Politics of Cultural Diplomacy’, the show includes more than 100 paintings. On view at Georgia Museum of Art through 20 April 2014.
