Five state TV and radio affiliates of Germany’s public broadcasting consortium ARD said they will not promote British musician Roger Waters’ concerts in Berlin and Cologne in 2018 “in reaction to anti-Semitism accusations against him”, reported Reuters on 28 November 2017.

Waters, the former frontman for Pink Floyd, has been a member of the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions Movement (BDS) since 2011. The controversial campaign’s stated main aim is to increase international pressure on Israel to comply with international law over the occupation of Palestinian territories.

RBB, one of the five affiliates, said in a statement that they wanted to send a message to artists who refuse to perform in Israel as part of the suggested actions by the BDS campaign.

WDR, NDR, SWR and BR are the other four affiliates that refused to promote the musician’s concerts, reported RBB.
