Egypt: Hurghada music festival cancelled

22 April 2015

Citing “security reasons”, the Spring Hurghada Island 2015 Festival was cancelled by security authorities in the Red Sea governorate. The festival was scheduled to be held on Sunday 12 April 2015.

The cancellation followed shortly after a death sentence had been issued against Mohamed Badie, leader of the Muslim Brotherhood, and 13 other members of the group.

Ahmed Omran, the media coordinator of the festival, stated that they were planning to hold a live concert which was expected to include the singer Bosy, the pop star Hamada Helal and the singer Hegazi Metkal.
