2 February 2021: The military intelligence services arrested Congolese musician Idengo Delcato for an alleged “offence of contempt” towards authorities in a song, reported RDC Nouvelles.

According to Radio Okapi, the charge concerns Delcato’s recently released song, in which he referred to the Head of State, the Provincial Governor of North Kivu, and some other deputies as “swindlers”, criticising them for the non-fulfilment of promises to the population during the election campaign.

The musician is currently being held in jail of the Armed Forces (FARDC) of the Democratic Republic of the Congo military intelligence service in Beni.
