23 January 2021: Rapper Julián Sneider Múñoz Silva, a.k.a JS was killed by two individuals in the neighbourhood of Los Chorros, located in the Colombian city of Cali, reported El Tiempo.
Silva was at the barbershop when two unidentified individuals riding a motorcycle shot him at least six times.
His loved ones said that Silva never received any life threat and that they do not know the reason for his killing.
Silva was an urban singer and youth social leader at commune 18 in southern Cauca Valley. He strived for the wellbeing of his community.
He was a member of the collective movement Prisioneros de la Esperanza / Hope’s prisoners, which aims to keep youngsters of Los Chorros district away from illegal activities.
Using artistic and cultural expressions, he taught young people from different backgrounds that they can legally obtain financial resources.
Prisioneros de la Esperanza and other urban art organisations expressed their rejection of Silva’s killing and called for authorities to investigate until they had found the whereabouts of the murderers.
Silva’s music talked about the boundaries between neighbourhoods and a better country.
