The Kenyan Film and Classification Board banned Art Attack’s video for its remix of Macklemore and Ryan Lewis’ gay rights song ‘Same Love’ on the grounds that “it does not adhere to the morals of the country”, Kenyan newspaper The Star reported on 23 February 2016.

Board chairman Ezekiel Mutua also said that the video was banned because the promoters never obtained a license to film the video.

Mutua further said that the board has contacted Google to have them ban the video from being accessed in Kenya and urged people not to circulate the video, media portal Mediamax reported on 23 February 2016.

The Kenyan band’s video shows scenes from LGBT marches and homophobic news headlines, and features the artists themselves with their partners. The original song and Art Attack’s remix focus on LGBT issues and promotes same sex rights and gender equality.
