Freemuse participated in WOMEX this year with a session “Artists ad Terrorists? The Global Threat of Anti-terror Legislation to Artistic Freedom” presented during the conference.

Paige Collings, Freemuse Global Advocacy and Campaigns Coordinator chaired this session with Jasmina Lazović, Freemuse Programme Coordinator – Global Monitoring and Yalda Yazdani from Zeitgenoessische Oper Berlin, discussing the worsening trend of counterterrorism being misused to silence artistic expressions.

The session will aim to collaboratively map out potential advocacy and mobilisation tactics used to uphold freedom of expression whilst also protecting against terrorism.

WOMEX Worldwide Music Expo is the international music meeting and the biggest conference of the global music scene, featuring a trade fair, talks, films and showcase concerts. This year, WOMEX is held in Porto, Portugal.
