On 25 February 2021 Freemuse will launch its flagship report The State of Artistic Freedom 2021 during the online session of Re:Writing the Future Festival.
The State of Artistic Freedom 2021 is launched annually and marks the key moment of the Freemuse calendar.
Dr Shahidul Alam, photographer, writer, curator and activist, together with Rita Dewan, Baul singer, will give keynote speeches during the session. The event will also include a speech from Luis Manuel Otero Alcántara, visual artist from Cuba. Nazeeha Saeed, journalist, will moderate the session with The State of Artistic Freedom 2021 report presentation by Dr Srirak Plipat, Freemuse Executive Director. Shurooq Amin, mixed-media interdisciplinary artist and a poet, and Kak, editorial cartoonist and president of Cartooning for Peace, will participate in the panel discussion during the session.
Re:Writing the Future Festival is a four-day event organised by Allianz Kultrurstiftung in partnership with ICORN – International Cities of Refuge Network in cooperation with DAAD Artists-in-Berlin Program and Maxim Gorki Theater Berlin. It is funded by the Senate for Culture and Europe of the City of Berlin.
