On 3 December, Dr Srirak Plipat, Freemuse Executive Director took part in a Safe Havens Global Stream webinar and Round Table discussion.
Freemuse Executive Director was one of the twelve Round Table panellists at the Safe Havens webinar moderated by Farida Shaheed, the former UN Special Rapporteur in the field of Cultural Rights, and Karima Bennoune, the current UN Special Rapporteur in the field of Cultural Rights.
During the webinar, Plipat called for members of the Safe Havens communities, artists, and artists at risk defenders to work together more collaboratively. He further introduced the Global Action Network (GAN) and highlighted how can GAN serve the purpose of mobilising activism and resources to achieve concrete and positive changes for artists, art and culture communities.
Safe Havens is the annual conference gathering artists, international NGOs and practitioners in the cultural and free expression sectors. It aims to present the full landscape of global protection, promotion and advocacy and assess the risks and challenges of censored and threatened artists, writers, journalists and academics.
