On 24 October, Freemuse held a session “The Global Action Network for Artistic Freedom and Digital Toolkit for Artists” during this year’s WOMEX.
Sverre Pedersen, Freemuse Advocacy and Campaigns Manager and Paige Collings, Freemuse Advocacy and Campaigns Officer chaired the session. Freemuse introduced the Global Action Network for Artistic Freedom (GAN) where artists, civil society organisations and individuals can build their own networks to share their expressions and generate solidarity across the globe.

The session also connected artists, organisations and social media platforms on the issue of censorship and harassment of artists and the suggested ways of mitigating the imperatively negative impact on artists through the Freemuse Digital Toolkit.
WOMEX is a Worldwide Music Expo, during which over 2,500 professionals from 90 countries come together every year to network and discuss the international music scene.
