Freemuse at RightsCon 2021, 7-11 June 2021, Online

2 June 2021

Freemuse will hold two sessions during RightsCon 2021.

The session “Artists as Terrorists? The global threat of anti-terror legislation to artistic freedom” will focus on the negative impact that counterterror measures have on artistic expression. It aims to explore how civil society can work with governments and intergovernmental mechanisms to uphold artistic freedom while protecting against terrorism. The event is scheduled for 9 June at 15.00 – 16.00 CEST.

“Beyond censorship: digital artivism in the LGBTI community” is designed as an intimate discussion amongst artists, civil society actors and social media platforms. It will focus on digital censorship and harassment of LGBTI artists online and how the LGBT community has worked to develop new spaces for digital artivism. The event is scheduled for 8 June at 11.30 – 12.30 CEST.

RightsCon gathers together business leaders, human rights defenders, government representatives, technologists, and journalists from around the world to discuss the most pressing issues at the intersection of human rights and technology.
