Freemuse will attend a conference organised by Artas Foundation and supported by the section Culture and Development of the Swiss Development Cooperation (SDC/Swiss FDFA) and the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK) in Zurich, Switzerland.
The conference will focus on discussions about the risks for artists and art, but also about the potential of artistic processes in difficult contexts. It will further consider a careful elaboration of the potential and limitations of artistic processes in fragile contexts.
On 27 February, Freemuse Campaigns and Advocacy Manager Sverre Pedersen will present The Global Action Network (GAN) – the initiative launched at the SAFE Havens 2019 conference in Cape Town in December 2019. You can join the Global Action Network now by signing up here.
On 28 February, Freemuse Executive Director Dr Srirak Plipat will host a workshop based on The State of Artistic Freedom 2019: Whose Narratives Count? presenting a Freemuse perspective on current developments regarding artistic freedom. The workshop will aim to describe options for concrete action at the level of state institutions, artists’ organisations, or engaged individuals.
