Freemuse World Conference in Istanbul
The 3rd international conference on music and censorship will take place in Istanbul, November 25-26, 2006. The conference will be hosted by Istanbul Bilgi Üniversitesi and arranged in collaboration with Association for Freedom of Expression, Association for Intercultural Communication and Turkish PEN.
The conference will deal with censorship and freedom of expression in a number of regions and countries e.g. Afghanistan, China, Cuba, Iraq, the Middle East, Turkey and South Africa.

New Freemuse reports

Middle East: All that is banned is desired – This report is based on the conference freedom of musical expression in the Middle East held in Beirut 6-8 October 2005, arranged by Freemuse in collaboration with Heinrich Böll Foundation, Middle East Office and Irab – Arab Association for Music. The report will be published end May.
Belarus: A report on music censorship in Belarus is on its way. The report will be presented at the World Conference in Istanbul.
