England / Israel / Palestine:
Pink Floyd star rejects cultural boycott

Pink Floyd’s Roger Waters has been asked by Palestinians to cancel his show in Tel Aviv or to put on a separate performance for Palestinians

The Palestinian Association for Contemporary Art and the League of Palestinian Artists has sent a letter to Roger Waters, the writer of ‘Another Brick in the Wall’ which was a massive hit in the Western world in 1981, asking him to reconsider performing in Israel, The Guardian reported on the 7th of March 2006.

Roger Waters has been a vocal opponent of the West Bank barrier which Israel says are needed to stop would-be suicide bombers. Waters said to The Guardian that many of his Israeli fans are ‘refusniks’ and added: ‘I would not rule out going to Israel because I disapprove of the foreign policy any more than I would refuse to play in the U.K. because I disapprove of Tony Blair’s foreign policy.’
