Summer school with focus on cinema and human rights

How can films be used as an instrument for enhancing
human rights awareness?

At a seminar in Italy students and professionals involved in the fields of human rights and cinema will seek answers to this question – with lectures, discussions, screenings of films shown at the 2005 Venice International Film Festival, and a production of essays.

“Summer School on Cinema and Human Rights” is organised by European Inter-University Centre for Human Rights and Democratisation, based in Venice, Italy (www.eiuc.org), and the course takes place in Venice from 25 August to 15 September 2005.

Deadline for applications is 1 May 2005.

The Summer School is facilitated by the Venice Film Festival, members of the Human Rights Film Network and UNESCO.

For more information, visit the Summer School website at www.cinemahumanrights.org or send an e-mail to the Summer School secretariat at info@cinemahumanrights.org.
