The Egyptian Artworks Censorship Board has postponed the display of a movie called ‘4 play cards’, starring the popular young electro Sha’abi singers Oka & Ortega, according to The Egyptian Today.

Sha’abi is a relatively new Egyptian music style, a kind of ‘electronic folk’.

The movie was initially planned to be released in Cinema in Al Adha Muslim Feast on 24 September 2015. The censorship board stated that the movie will not be approved until the production company removes a song named ‘Your eye-liner is astonishing’, [‘Shartet einak betjanen’] from the movie.

The movie is addressing the daily life of the controversial Mahrajant folkloric bands, which are seen as a negative phenomenon by some artists and censorship officers in Egypt.

The Ministry of Education issued a resolution earlier in 2015 prohibiting the Mahrajant music to be played in any school in Egypt.
