Zimbabwe: South African musicians receive death threats

Members of the legendary kwaito group Big Nuz are fearing for their lives amidst threats of violence by angry Zimbabweans.

The group was set to perform in the neighbouring country on 17 April 2015 but have been receiving threats of a boycott and violence from Zimbabwean nationals.

Big Nuz is the latest South African group to receive threatening messages on social media. On 15 April 2015, Cassper Nyovest revealed that his life was also threatened ahead of his Zimbabwe tour.

These threats come in the wake of ongoing xenophobic attacks in KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng, which have claimed the lives of at least five foreign nationals over the past two weeks.

Afrotainment’s DJ Tira told Sowetan that it looks like the show will be cancelled, but that they were still in talks with the organisers.
