Egypt: Authorities refuse to grant visa to Palestinian singer

In February 2015, the Egyptian authorities refused to grant the Palestinian singer Rim Banna a visa to enter the country, when the artist was planning to give a concert, reported Tahrir News.

According to Rim Banna’s comments on her Facebook page this was the second time she was refused an entry visa to Egypt.

“Egypt refuses to grant me a visa for the second time. Should I understand now that I am entirely banned from coming to Egypt? Does this stop my songs to be repeated and sung by the Egyptian youth? I sing at their homes, in squares and on streets. I will sing to them then on Skype. No one can shut down my voice, not even death,” she wrote.
